Can you see them? Can you see the eggs? Do you know what type of bird laid these three speckled eggs?
When I saw these I felt Spring all around me. Grass beginning to green up. Daffodils blooming. Signs of life. Signs of new beginnings. Ducks and geese squabbling and creating racket searching for their favorite nesting spots. Frogs singing and chirping their arrival. Longer days. Brighter mornings. Smells of Spring. Ahhhh. Breathe in, breathe out. Bliss.
Have you figured out what type of bird owns this nest of eggs? And there is your clue, BIRD! Let me know in the comments what your guess may be!

Killdeer!
I've been spying on one at the local high school - she's been there for a week or so when I drop my daughter off at tennis practice.
My guess is a Killdeer. I have seen a 'nest' before, with the eggs camouflaged among the rocks. The Killdeer eggs are speckled like the ones in your photo. I'll have a post up fairly soon about the Killdeer we met one day!
The rocks gave it away. Killdeer!
I was thinking quail. Just because I can't think of any other ground-layers.
Can you tell I'm a suburban girl? Now, I am off to Google killdeer!
I say Killdeer too!!! We have a pair that nests on the property every year, they yell at me every time I walk out to the barn!
Yep, these are Killdeer eggs! And mama Killdeer was none too happy with my 3 minutes taking pictures of her shelled babes!
Very cool!!!
